Get Confirmation ID Online
Most Windows and Office activations complete automatically over the internet in seconds. Occasionally — usually on a network with restricted outbound access, or during a clean install before drivers are configured — automatic activation fails and Windows falls back to phone activation, which uses an Installation ID and a matching Confirmation ID. This is a normal Microsoft process, not a sign of a bad key.
How phone/ID-based activation works
- Open the activation troubleshooter: Settings → System → Activation →
Troubleshoot, or run
slui.exe 4from the Run dialog on older Windows builds. - Choose the phone activation option. Windows displays a long Installation ID — a string of numbers grouped in blocks.
- Use Microsoft's activation service (by phone, or through the linked online activation portal where available in your region) and provide the Installation ID.
- Microsoft returns a matching Confirmation ID. Enter it back into the activation wizard exactly as given.
- Activation completes immediately once a valid Confirmation ID is accepted.
If the Confirmation ID is rejected
A rejected Confirmation ID almost always means the Installation ID was mistyped or the key has already reached its activation limit. Double-check every digit was entered correctly first. If the key is genuinely exhausted or invalid, this is exactly the scenario the Refund Policy's DOA replacement covers — contact info@blacksaints.co with the order ID.
